Spring 2022 FSH Gardens Annual Weed Abatement, April 27th - 29th, 8:30am - 4:30pm for Both Gardens - EXTENDED TO MAY 6TH
In preparation for fire season, a contracted vendor will be conducting weed whipping and abatement at both Storke and West Campus Gardens. During this time for safety concerns, visitors, residents and gardeners are not allowed at the gardens during vendor work hours. Other impact: Loud noise, pedestrian detours, dust.
Gardeners and plot holders are expected to move items into their plot, clear their area of debris and remove hazards for the workers. If gardeners have questions or need temporary storage during abatement, please email the Garden Coordinators at: [email protected]. |

It's a Plant Party! Join your neighbors in the West Campus garden for a houseplant party! Bring the houseplant you've been meaning to repot or come grab a free houseplant and let's repot them in community. Mia of Mia's Lil Greenhouse will offer a houseplant workshop and support in our repotting efforts! Bring your own pots or win one of several that will be raffled at the event! Your RA staff will provide soil, perlite, and orchid bark for creating our own healthy soil, the first 20 households will receive a free houseplant AND you can purchase more houseplants from Mia's Lil Greenhouse! Join Food, Nutrition and Basic Skills, Family Student Housing, and Edible Campus in our monthly garden to table series. To celebrate fall join us at Storke Garden for all things corn. We'll be popping corn and making different toppings and showcasing seasonal recipes and the many garden locations of the Edible Campus program. Children are welcome.

Join Food, Nutrition and Basic Skills, Family Student Housing, and Edible Campus Program in our monthly garden to table series. To celebrate October join us at Storke Garden & Community Center for all things pumpkin. Learn how to make delicious pumpkin muffins and paint pumpkins to enjoy all season long. Children are welcome.

10AM-12PM Next Saturday we’re hosting a volunteer day at the FSH Storke Garden, located off Los Carneros Road. It’s a great chance to help transform this campus garden and get active with fellow gardeners. The event will include mulching around new garden beds, repairing the garden’s greenhouse, and, if time allows, clearing ground for a new community seating area. As we can’t verify vaccination status, we ask that everyone mask up, and be sure to bring a water bottle. Summer 2021 - August 8th: Build Your Own Planter Box
Sunday August 8th - West Campus Gardens 10-12pm
and Storke Gardens 1-3pm UCSB FSH Community Gardens and the Tenants Union present the Build Your Own Planter Box event. Come build a planter box for your patio, balcony, or garden plot. We'll supply wood, screw, and tools! Sizes will vary. While supplies last. Please bring your own safety googles and gloves. First come, first serve, while supplies last. Summer 2021 - Eat the Rainbow and Grow the Rainbow: A two-part workshop series

The UCSB Edible Campus Program, UCSB Food, Nutrition and Basic Skills Program and Family Student Housing Community Gardens are hosting a two part mini-series celebrating diversity in our meals and in our gardens.
The UCSB, Food Nutrition, and Basic Skills Program will be hosting a virtual workshop on Friday, July 9th, 2021 from 12-1pm, called "Eat the Rainbow". Get some more color into your summer snacks with fresh summer rolls. Join us as we raid our fridge and garden to roll up some colorful, nutritious, and fresh summer rolls. We'll talk about the benefits of eating all the colors of the rainbow, as well as, what's growing in our campus gardens this summer. Registration for the Eat the Rainbow Workshop can be found here: http://bit.ly/RainbowEats The UCSB Edible Campus Program will be hosting an in-person workshop on Saturday, July 10th, 2021 from 10am-11am (our first in person workshop since the pandemic outbreak)! Join us in the garden as we talk about different summer produce to make sure your meals are popping with color. This will be a family-friendly workshop and engaging for people of all ages. We will cover how to create a diverse ecosystem of edible plants, plants that support each other's growth, and how to plan out your garden bed. Workshop participants will receive some seeds for their garden. This event will be in person on July 10th, 2021, 10am-11am at the West Campus Family Student Housing Garden. Attendees (including those already vaccinated) will be asked to wear a mask during this event (masks can be provided for attendees without them) and the event will be designed to allow for social distancing.
